Artful faces on Barcelona's walls

Hipster girl – Carrer Grunyi

Another Friday has rocked up, and after a busy week, I am ready to bring on the weekend! Guess you are too? What are your plans? I am starting off with a sketching session this evening at 7 pm (at Caravelle, in case you’d like to join in), during which I will be doing my best to create portraits of my fellow sketchers…

Character study – Carrer Honduras

I’ll probably start off with something like this (above) and hopefully progress to something a little more defined.

Triplets – Carrer Honduras

Not sure I’ll manage anything good, such as these handsome fellas, on the walls of a former factory near Clot, which now functions as a cultural centre, but I will try my best.

The older guy – Carrer Astùries

I certainly don’t expect to produce anything as picture perfect as this older guy, tucked behind a window grille in Gràcia, but wouldn’t mind being able to create a minimalist portrait as funky as the one below. As long as it was a good likeness. Who knows? I just hope I will be inspired!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Cleaning al fresco – Passeig Marítim de Barceloneta

Happy Monday! I know this is not everyone’s favourite day of the week, but maybe watching these men at work serves to inspire you to 1. be happy with your current occupation, 2. change the one you’ve got, or 3. go out there and look for the one you don’t! Whichever may be applicable to you: have a great week!

An empty plot

What’s this?

Last week, while I was taking photos around the Born, I stumbled on an empty plot on Carrer Canvis Nous. The plot itself is no news, for it has been empty for as long as I have lived in Barcelona. But what was a great surprise, is what I found…

Mesmerised 2

This past weekend most of Barcelona has been getting ready to celebrate one of its patron saint days, Sant Jordi (which took place yesterday), but part of the local population had something quite different to celebrate: Bangla New Year.

Carrer Ersame Janer

If you look carefully around Barcelona, you’ll be able to see evidence that Rusty was here… for he has left his mark on various buildings in many ways, but always in the marked colour scheme that is so obviously his. Here, let me show you…

I ♥ Locals

Plaça Reial

With all the tourists that come to Barcelona each year, and who (especially in Summer) tend to dominate the streets in the Old Town, it would be easy to forget that there are locals here too.  Therefore, today, a pictorial homage to those who live here – enjoy!
