Barcelona Cute Suite Window grilles

Lace or iron?

Traditionally, dainty damsels and pretty ladies were kept behind bars in Spain. The bars of the windows of their homes, that is. Luckily for some, here in Barcelona, those bars resembled strong lace and so their beauty was enhanced even more. I leave you with some of these gorgeous and lace-like window grilles, made from either wrought or cast iron, and which can be found around Barcelona… enjoy!

For more examples of cast iron and wrought iron loveliness, you may like to check out this post or this one. Happy weekend, everyone!

Hi Lisette, I love this post! Great photos beautifully presented. On a recent trip to Lima, Peru we discovered a similar architectural concept in the Spanish Colonial balconies that adorn the fronts of many buildings. All the best, Terri

Hi Terri, thanks very much for your feedback! I’m glad you like the post! I know what you are referring to in Lima! Gorgeous houses and window bars, as well as impressive latticed balconies there too! I saw them a few years ago, when I visited. Have a wonderful weekend. Saludos, Lisette

Only one of the things that make Barcelona such a beautiful city …

PS: what I also really love in Barca are the charming balconies and the glimpses of roof terraces. It’s adorable and fascinating to see how people decorate them :)
