Barcelona is a city where cycling, both by locals and by its visitors, has taken off massively. As a result, the offer in rental bikes has exploded, with cut-throat offers here, there and everywhere. Cheap prices are all very well, but what about customer attention? Going cycling? I have just the place for you to rent your iron steed!
On carrer Lluna 1, David, a friendly bicycle enthusiast, decided to set up a very special bike rental shop: Barcelona Folding Bike. Full of historical images, this small shop pays homage to cycle heroes from the past, and has framed the tools of the trade for good measure.
Not far from the Macba museum and the Rambla del Raval, in an area that sees a lot of transit from hip (foreign) locals and some tourists, you can rent one of his sturdy black bikes, a colourful racing bike, or go for one of the black or white folding Bromptons he has invested in.
He has decided to make customer attention his main selling point, and so he includes the lock and helmet in his rental prices, and if you have a child with you, offers the seat for free also. Plus, he offers bikes which are free of publicity. Not bad, right?
Not only that, but he isn’t going to penalise you, should you return the bicycle a few minutes after the agreed time. He can also offer leather seats for those whose bums prefer a natural ‘habitat’, and on Wednesday mornings, he does a 3 hour tour of Barcelona, during which he will show the main attractions to those who haven’t seen them yet.
Barcelona Folding Bikes is open from Mon-Sat: 10 am – 2 pm + 4.30 pm – 8 pm, and Sun: 10 am -2 pm. Please check their website for more information about their terms, prices and tours. If you’re planning to stop by and rent a bike, let me know, for I can arrange a discount for you! Happy cycling!!
