Monkey business

Signifying – Carrer Volta dels Tamborets

There is some serious monkey business going on in Barcelona. On walls and doors, that is. Some of it pretty cool, some interesting, some a little trashy and some of it just plain cute.

Orang Utang beauty – Carrer del Sabateret

I really like these two – the signifying chimp (at the top) with his cool duds and this lovely orang utang lady with crying eyes on her belly. The trashy monkey by local street artist Francisco de Pájaro can no longer be found on this doorway on Carrer Doctor Dou…

Trashy monkey – Carrer Doctor Dou

… it was removed very shortly after I took this photo. On the same day, in fact! Lucky I was able to shoot it on time!

Snake in fancy dress? – Baixada de Viladecols

Hmmm… I wonder what the meaning of the split tongue is (so very snake-like) on the little monkey above? If anyone has a clue, clue me in please!

The image below shows a stencil of Barcelona’s very own albino gorilla ‘Copito’ who no longer lives, unfortunately, but who for many years was a great attraction at our local zoo.

Ready to get up to some monkey business of your own? Have a great day, everyone!
