Weekend getaway

Going back in time…

Fancy a weekend getaway? Last week I went away to a sleepy town further South on Spain’s East coast to spend time with family and friends. It is a place where pirates once roamed, and now swallows, sea gulls, bats and cotorras (the same as we have in Barcelona) have free reign.

Curly shadow

Mostly, the old part of town was built in the 70s (although some older, more humble houses can still be found dotted around the place) and window bars cast curly shadows in the early morning, when the sun has just risen above the sea’s horizon. To see more, check out the slideshow I have prepared for you…

The sand on the beaches is soft and fine and full of bird footprints in the early morning, the sea water crystal clear, the rock at the entrance of the port very colourful, and practically every house has a jasmine in its garden to waft its sweet perfume to all who walk past their funky breeze block garden walls. I’ve been going to this place (which shall remain unnamed to keep it sleepy as long as possible) for some 30 years and hope I can continue to do so for many years to come…

Happy weekend, everyone! Will you be able to able to enjoy a weekend getaway?  Whatever you do, have a great time!

Looks so lovely and relaxing, nice to get away from it all sometimes!
I love your image of the colourful painted rocks and lighthouse :)

Thanks Louise! It was very relaxing, and I am lucky to be able to get away every now and then to wind down. The painted rocks are unusual, aren’t they?

Tell me what you think...
