Street signs

Gothic letters

It has been a while since I last showed you some street signs, so let’s kick off the weekend with a stroll around town to peek at corners to see what they have to say, and how they are saying it…

A plaque for a plaça

Pretty fancy, don’t you think?

Pointing the way

I love the lettering on these two old marble signs – so pretty! And not only do these signs indicate the name of the street, they also tell you in which district you are, and in which neighborhood. Information overload? If done in this manner, I don’t mind!

Different language, different name

How funny is this (above)? Same passage, but different names! I know street names can change in the course of time (and have experienced a few in my lifetime), but I had never come across a spot where the old name and the new coexisted!

The plain kind

Nothing wrong with the plain street signs used in Barcelona (above) – a simple font on a marble slab – not bad, I think. But to tell it with tiles is a very cute way indeed! Have a great weekend, everyone!
