It’s early in the morning, and I can hear all kinds of birds twittering: a flock of swifts as they fly past, parakeets chatter on a neighbouring balcony, a seagull cries out mid flight, and there are pigeons cooing outside my balcony. I ❤ birds – hearing them makes me feel happy, and seeing them pasted or sprayed on walls and doors around Barcelona, prolongs that feeling…
As in any European city, pigeons abound, in Barcelona. And not only on Plaça Catalunya or in the parks, but they hang out on the beach too, and occasionally get plastered or sprayed on a door, or on a wall.
Vultures can only be seen in graffiti form in Barcelona, although you might spot one or two if you head to the mountainous and wilder areas in the countryside.
Hummingbirds are seldom spotted, and then only here, on Carrer Brosolí. Are there any hummingbirds where you live? Do you love birds as much as I ❤ birds?
