Carrer Provenza 274

For the past couple of seasons there has been a re-surge of colour in fashion, especially in accessories. But in Barcelona it isn’t all that easy to find any colourful shoes or handbags unless you go to this delightful shop: Mimótica Micola.

Located on Carrer Provenza 274, between Passeig de Gràcia and Rambla de Catalunya, it has intriguing shop windows (above) and a cosy, sweet atmosphere that you feel straight away, as you walk in…

Sweet shop

… and are welcomed by Raquel, the owner, or one of the friendly shop assistants. They all speak several languages (which is not common in shops here, in Barcelona), so if Spanish or Catalan is not your forte, relax, you’ll be fine!

Pretty feminine

The shop is decorated with soft, feminine touches to match the lovely collection, and props and vintage items are used to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, a place to feel instantly at home.

Colour!

Colour is the key to most of the collection of shoes, boots and handbags, although some styles come in more subdued tones also. Beautiful workmanship is also an important element for all items, many of which are made of supple, super soft lightweight leather, and produced by local manufacturers.

Mauve and blue

The decor of the shop is seasonal, so at the moment, you can see references to the current season, such as the phrase on the wooden display (below image) which has been crafted with letters wrapped in fabric remnants in girlie prints.

Essential soaps

On the counter some other items are also on display: natural soaps in which essential oils have been used, and cute hangers with little bunches of pretty fabric to hang from your bag, purse or maybe even use as a key chain.

Merci Arigató

Off to the side of the main ‘room’ of the shop are two more rooms, which currently stock sales items, and at the back, there is a little ‘nobody is perfect corner’ which I think is really cute. Another thing I really like, is the embroidered signs that are used throughout the shop, embroidered by Raquel herself, who learned to sew from her grandmother, who used to make the suits for bullfighters!!

Bags and boots

For those a little tired of walking around from shop to shop, there is a comfy chair to take a little rest – how thoughtful!

Pretty in pink

The shop is a great hit with Japanese shoppers, but for anyone in search of something out of the ordinary and with a very feminine touch, Mimótica Micola is a great place to visit…
