Carrer Pelai

On Monday I showed you various Christmas lights from around town in their OFF state, and today, to bring on the weekend in a blaze, I have loads of images from the lights in their ON state. Enjoy!!

… where the lights are plain sheets of white light. I love these for their simplicity and elegance!

Carrer Pelai

3D stars in various colours grace Carrer Pelai, from Plaça Universitat all the way to Plaça Catalunya, while holly leaves and stars do so on Ronda de Sant Pere.

Plaça Catalunya

The tree on Plaça Catalunya still has its roots and will be replanted (thank heavens!) – it makes up for its lack in size by blazing its LED lights into the night.

Carrer Tallers

Squiggly Christmas trees and electric blue snow flakes turn Carrer Tallers into an atmospheric street these days…

… and a broad band of lights in electric blue zig zags along the top of El Triangle shopping center on Carrer Pelai.

Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes

Going a little crazy with colour (in a good way) on Gran Via, which was decorated with the same hexagonal panels last year. I don’t mind, it is a spectcaular sight to see such a blast of colour running along this very long avenue. And reusing Christmas lights year after year is just plain sensible!

Passeig de Gràcia

True to its swanky style, Passeig de Gràcia has opted for a collection of chandeliers – lovely, yes?

Rambla de Catalunya

These huge “Galets de Nadal” (a type of pasta traditionally used in the soup served at Christmas) were introduced a couple of years ago into Barcelona’s repertoire of Christmas decorations. Initially sponsored by a Spanish pasta and soup manufacturer, this year they appear brandless and can all be found on Rambla de Catalunya. Fun, aren’t they?

Plaça Catalunya

Back at Plaça de Catalunya, a cloud of snow crystals brighten the curved wall of a department store. At the top end of the square, a handful of trees with colourful blossoms surround the fountains and statues with a woodland of light.

And combined, make for a truly spectacular Christmas extravaganza! Have a great weekend everyone! I’ll be back on Monday with more Barcelona loveliness…
