A little night music

In the distance...

That these early evenings can be very atmospheric I already showed you here, but wow, sometimes, it can really catch you unawares, like when yesterday evening I spotted something rather gorgeous from a distance…

Palau de la Mùsica

It was the beautiful Palau de la Mùsica, on Carrer Sant Pere Mès Alt, which in daytime is already a stunning building (I’ll have to show you some time). But by night, wow, if possible, even more so!

Gorgeousness

Just look at all those gorgeous details, beautifully lit, like some kind of apparition on a dark night…

Corner stones

It doesn’t really matter from which angle or side of the building you look at it, every nook and cranny offers something lovely to look at.

Ticket office

Even on the ground floor, which is not lit on the outside, the mosaic tiles with which the sturdy base pillars have been decorated…

Entrances

… with their glossy glaze, scintillate and sparkle in the semi darkness.

Inside glimpse

Through the large windows, on either side of the entrances, the hall was ablaze with light, and permitted me to show you the profuse detail with which the inside has been decorated, using a variety of applied arts: glazed tiles in many colours, stained glass, carved wood, hand-blown glass  – used for the pillars of the banisters of the stairways, as well as the various lamps, wrought iron and more… The Palau de la Mùsica is a veritable gem that stands out from its  surroundings (not ugly either, mind!), both by day and by night.

This place is, indeed, stunning. I’ve never been to Spain, but looking at all the extraordinary photos you share with us, readers of your blog, I definitely would want to put Barcelona on my top list when I have the opportunity to go to that part of the world. Thanks for sharing your wonderful repertoire of admirable places in Barcelona.

This is my favorite place in Barcelona! I loved it more than any Gaudi piece and combined with a banana & nutella crêpe from the crêperie across the street, its a lovely experience!

It’s lovely, isn’t it? I also really like the modern extension, even if it is so very different.
