The holiday season is just around the corner, so it’s a good idea to start (window) shopping well in advance. Luckily for us, Il·lacions is hosting a pop-up shop this November, and quite a few items have already arrived…
Launched last week was a gorgeous collection of glass and porcelain items hand made by Caroline Swift, a Scottish designer who is based in Barcelona.
All the items by Caroline Swift have one thing in common: they are delicate and beautiful (ok that is two things!) and “too good to put into a cupboard”. Such is also the title of her collection of (mostly unglazed) bone china items, such as the delightful cups and spoons above.
Her glass installations (below) in various delicious hues have been hand-blown by the artist herself, and can be used in small or large groups depending on the effect one desires to achieve. They would make for gorgeous Christmas decorations, but are also lovely as vases for individual flowers.
Gracing the lovely walls of this delightful design gallery, is a collection of pretty mirrors by Amato Sole. As with all the items that this crafty duo (Annamaría Amato & Ramón Solé) make, these have been created from recycled, previously discarded items (in this case, from picture frames), and turned into elegant and sober, unique and artful objects.
Caroline Swift also creates wonderful black flowers made from bone china. They look like matte iron, until you hold them in your hand, and realise that they are in fact quite something else! Exquisite!
Still available at Il·lacions, is the collection of vases made of hand-blown and hand-etched glass, designed by Tomas Kral. Well worth checking out!
Furthermore, a handful of fun and quirky items are now also for sale, such as pin-hole cameras, tea light holders that you can hang on the wall, handy note pads that don’t slide when you write on them, and a selection of cool design books. All are perfect as stocking fillers.
Also launched last week, the collection of glass jars called Juuri, by Sarah Böttger, displayed beautifully with images of their production process. All are hand blown, hand cut and assembled, and available in various shades of glass and with different coloured rings and lids.
Still on show are several items from the Rescue collection by Thomas Keis, such as the cabinet above and the coffee table below.
What a beautifully curated collection of items, right? There are several items on my wish list. Have you added any to yours? Anyway, if any more items arrive, I will let you know! Happy shopping!
