Happy Friday! I hope your week hasn’t been too stressful, but in case you need a bit of calm, how about I take you to a hidden garden in Barcelona’s Eixample?
The entrance to this garden can be found on Carrer Floridablanca 141, just a couple of doors down from the Renoir Floridablanca cinema.
The entrance is through a tunnel, covered on the right side with slate tiles, and you will arrive at a garden, which has been laid out in such a way as to create a zen-like, minimalist space.
Lights, inset into concrete flagstones, with a finish that resembles wood, lead the way through this space, which otherwise incorporates granite sand and plants.
A couple of benches provide seating areas and rest for your feet, should they be tired from pounding the pavements.
In my opinion, without detracting from the minimalist intention of this inner garden, a few more plants or even the odd tuft of grass would make the space a little less stark. But that’s just my opinion, of course!
If a bit of peace and quiet is what you seek, then this space is certainly able to provide it. No doubt given time, the various creepers and crawling plants that are growing up the walls, will provide a sufficiently lush touch, that I think is missing right now.
Once rested, it might be a good idea to catch a film at the cinema just a couple of doors away. They show a good selection of films at Renoir Floridablanca, and all films are subtitled.
The exit is basically through the same tunnel, retracing your steps, until you get to Carrer Floridablanca.
Have a great weekend, wherever you are and whatever you do!
Very cool!
Thanks!!
