I am away for a long weekend, (this blog post was actually prepared before I left) so playing with the idea of being here yet not really being here, I thought it might be fun to do a post on shadows.
They are temporary effects of light (or lack thereof) and can sometimes be quite stunning – had you ever noticed that the shadows cast on the sidewalk by leaves can seem like lace?
Or how shadows can mix with elements on the surface they are playing on, creating an interesting optical illusion such as the one below, where graffiti birds appear to be lining up to get into the palm tree?
How about some spiky sea urchins on dry land? Unexpected, eh?
Buildings can cast interesting shadows too – just look at the stripey mix above, and the scalloped edge below…
Or how about the shadow cast by a bicycle in repose? And one in motion? Speaking of motion… I’m off! I’ll still be away on Monday, so no post, but I’ll be back here on Tuesday. Have a great weekend!
