Petons

It’s Friday – the weekend has arrived and I feel like celebrating. I know a very cute bar in the Barri Gòtic where they serve delicious wines. Want to join me?

Lovely! I’m going to take you to ZIM.  Let’s go…

Cosy corner

ZIM is a tiny bar, just a couple of square metres (yes, really!) so it is very cosy, and when busy a bit of a tight squeeze. But that just adds to the fun, as you can’t help but get into conversations with the other guests…

Crisps

At ZIM you can have a beer or  vermouth, but to do them justice, you should really have one of their delicious wines or cavas. If you order by the glass, you’ll get a ‘kiss’! Yes, really! Well… you’ll get a ‘petò’, which is Catalan for kiss, and this is a small roll of bread with a yummie filling, lovingly prepared by Francesc, the knowledgeable bartender and owner.

Yummie stuff

You can also have a platter with a selection of superb cheeses (from Formatgeria La Seu) or very tasty cold cuts. All wines, cheese and saussage varieties come from small producers around Spain, have only natural ingredients, and no additives. The quality of everything served in ZIM is exceptional! And the price, you may wonder? Well, you’ll be pleasantly surprised, when Frances adds up your order on the marble counter top!
