Via Laietana

Happy Monday! By now you know that there are many beautiful buildings in Barcelona, and that it is worthwhile to look up at them as often as is comfortable. One of the reasons for that, is to be able to see the turrets and towers that preside over some of the buildings. Here are a handful of them for you to enjoy…

On Via Laietana, one of Barcelona’s grand avenues, there are quite a few such structures. For example the one above, which is almost castle-like, or this box with rounded corners, below.

A proper tower with a visible staircase spiraling to its top, and a lookout way up over Barcelona’s rooftops (above) or a couple of towers with domed roofs (below) are a few more examples of turrets and towers.

Portal de l'Àngel

Another lovely one, in a gorgeous red, can be found on Portal de l’Àngel, and one that reminds me of a lighthouse, on Carrer Pelai. Very striking, both of them, but I especially like the glass sfere that glints and glimmers in the sunlight, and is often lit up at night.

Carrer del Pi

But my favourite among the turrets and towers I have discovered so far, are these two: the very simple tiled box with its pointy and multicolour roof (above), and the corner lookout (below) with its beautiful tiered support. Which do you like best?
